Mustard gas changed warfare in 1915. Not because it was the most powerful weapon ever made, but because it changed the nature of the battlefield itself. Soldiers in the trenches had nowhere safe to stand. Autonomous drones have done the same thing, and then some. The trenches at least had walls. Today the battlefield is land, sea and air simultaneously and the hunter is everywhere. It never tires, never loses the scent, and can be replaced for a few hundred dollars.
